2- Split unit air conditioners (Split AC)
Split AC is used when greater adaptive capacity is needed, and it comes in the form of two separate units. This type of air conditioner is widely used in large places such as warehouses, commercial centers, and companies with large areas, with an increase in the number of external units and their assembly above buildings, where each external unit is connected to an internal unit that cools a specific part of the building. This Split AC has the feature of separating the cold side from the hot side so that the cold part can be installed inside the room on any suitable wall and the other part can be installed outside.
The cold interior contains an expansion valve, cold spiral tubes, and fans that push air through the cold tubes, so Air goes out to the room. The fan's speed and direction can be controlled through special movable blades.
As for the hot external part, it is placed outside the room, on the roof, or fixed on the ground in a special place. Split AC is less disturbing than a window air conditioner.
3- Chilled water air conditioners (desert air conditioners)
The desert air conditioner is one of the most widely used Air Conditioners in Saudi Arabia, and this type of air conditioner is used in different cases. In some cases where the buildings are very large, the water cooling system is used instead of the compressed freon gas cooling system. It becomes impractical due to the long distance between the pressure units and the internal cold air distribution units, and these systems either take the form of a water cooler installed above the building, where the water temperature reaches between 4 and 7 degrees Celsius, or the cooled water is transported through pipes to the internal distribution units. These tubes are formed to suit the places to be cooled, and there are no restrictions on the length of these tubes as long as they are well insulated. The water is cooled using the freon in the left part and the heat exchange takes place between the very cold freon and the water that is used for cooling by passing it through the connected tubes in the buildings
